Making Mistakes

"You must never feel badly about making mistakes ... as long as you take the trouble to learn from them. For you often learn more by being wrong for the right reasons than you do by being right for the wrong reasons."

—The Phantom Tollbooth by Norton Juster

How can you be grateful for mistakes?

I don't know about you but when I make a mistake I feel embarrassed, sad or even angry. At the moment, it's really hard to feel grateful for a mistake I made because it means something went wrong.

But mistakes can be valuable teachers too "if you take the trouble to learn from them." Taking the trouble to learn can make you stronger, wiser, and more prepared for the next challenging moment that may come your way.

Whether you want to be a writer, a musician, or an athlete, you're going to make a lot of mistakes along the way. But if you pay attention to the feedback and keep working hard, learning from your mistakes can help you develop your skills along the way.

We make mistakes in all kinds of areas in life and sometimes they can be painful. However, if you choose to look at the bigger picture you can see that your mistakes are opportunities to help you grow up.

In your journal today, write down a mistake you made and the lesson you learned from it.
