Cultivating the Habit of Gratitude

“Cultivate the habit of being grateful for every good thing that comes to you, and to give thanks continuously. And because all things have contributed to your advancement, you should include all things in your gratitude.”

Ralph Waldo Emerson

Gratitude is a choice.

There are so many things you encounter that you don't really have any control over and some times it's easy to focus on those things or wish they were different.

Instead of focusing on what's outside of your control, it's important to remember that you always have a choice about what you do with yourself.  You can decide what and where you will focus your thoughts, time, and attention. The choice to develop gratitude each day and all the little choices along the way that you make really matter.

Since the only thing in your control is you, your thoughts, your words and your actions what will you apply that energy to? Will you treat gratitude and thankfulness as something you will put work and attention to because it's your choice every day?

You can choose to see the good in every circumstance if you look for it.

You can choose to give thanks for every gift that has come your way.

You can choose to say "thank you" to the people you meet every day who are kind to you.

You can choose to be kind to others no matter what.

You can choose to write down what you're thankful for each day as a reminder.

What will you choose?

Write down one choice or habit you can start today that will grow your habit of gratitude.
